We have software!

Gotts' Landing has new software at last.  It was quite an ordeal working on this project, but I have to say it worth it because I learned so much.  So now we have a great new software program that is more efficient and user friendly than our previous program that completely crashed on us. We have new reports that will allow us to better track our customers as well as canoes, kayaks, rafts, and tubes so much better.  And we can add the cost of a campground pick up quickly, too.

What a stressful day

23lnqe8i We are having new software installed in our canoe livery so we can better serve our customers and do business more efficiently. Anyway, we ran into a number of issues that we were only able to resolve slowly over the afternoon. As a result, neither my husband nor I was able to watch puppy Sarah very well, so, unfortunately, she had a three accidents in the house. Tomorrow we are going to have to watch her very carefully so she doesn't get out of control.  Anyway, after working for about 9 hours on the software upgrade, we called it a day and will pick up again tomorrow.

Sarah is making herself comfortable

We're so pleased with Sarah. She's such a wonderful puppy. We're very happy that she's getting comfortable with her new home and new doggy sister, Sammy:

Isn't that just too cute?

Woman who drove teenage girl to suicide indicted

Lori Drew is a sick, sick woman.  I mean, there is something seriously wrong with her.  At 49 years old, she took on the persona of a 16 year old boy she named Josh Evans. She created a My Space page in his name for the purpose of tormenting Megan Meier, a 13 year old girl who had a falling out with her own daughter. Lori got Megan to fall for the nonexistent "Josh" and then cut off the relationship with Megan after she had become emotionally attached to him. After the breakup, "Josh" told Megan the world would be better off without her.  Shortly thereafter, Megan hanged herself in her closet.  Here's the story from Reuters:

A 49-year-old Missouri woman accused of pretending to be a love-struck teenage boy on MySpace and driving a 13-year-old girl to suicide with cruel messages was indicted on Thursday on federal charges.

Prosecutors say Lori Drew and others created the fake MySpace persona of a 16-year-old boy to woo neighbor Megan Meier for several weeks, then abruptly ended the relationship and said the world would be better off without her.

Meier's 2006 suicide by hanging, just hours after she read those final messages, made worldwide headlines and prompted calls for social networking sites like MySpace to crack down on cyber-bullying.

"This adult woman allegedly used the Internet to target a young teenage girl, with horrendous ramifications," U.S. Attorney Thomas O'Brien said in announcing the indictment in Los Angeles, where MySpace is based.

"Any adult who uses the Internet or a social gathering Web site to bully or harass another person, particularly a young teenage girl, needs to realize that their actions can have serious consequences," O'Brien said.

As far as I'm concerned Lori Drew should not be able live a peaceful or anonymous life ever again. She should be reminded of what she did every single day for the rest of her life: she tormented an innocent teenage girl so badly that she drove her to suicide just because of a spat she had with her daughter.  I sincerely hope she gets the maximum time in prison for this, not just because it's an adequate punishment for her actions, but because this woman is obviously so disturbed that she's a menace and needs to be separated from society.  What kind of an adult (and a parent for God's sake!) actually says to her kid when she has a falling out with her friend, "Hey, I have an idea..." and then proceeds to torment this innocent young girl?

So who is this Lori Drew? Here's a picture:

And how did Lori react when she found out Megan killed herself because of what she did? Again from Reuters:

The indictment charges that after Meier killed herself, Drew had the phony MySpace account deleted and warned a girl who knew about it that she should "keep her mouth shut."

You stay classy, Lori Drew.  I'd say the world would be better off without the likes of her.

Sarah is doing great

Pictures of us picking her up from Julie's place yesterday evening:

Last night Sarah did really well. We are crate training, so her bed is a huge metal crate that's been partitioned off so she can grow into it.  At around midnight we took her out to go potty and then we put her in her bed for the night. After about ten minutes of light whining, she settled down and fell asleep.  Of course, this was aided by the fact that she was completely exhausted by the experience of moving to a new home and checking out the new smells. When I got her up at 3:00 this morning to go out, she was very efficient and went potty quickly (whew!).  She did the same this morning at 7:00am. I checked out her bed this morning, and it smelled like she piddled a little in it, so it's now in the washing machine. Other than that and a little accident earlier today, she's been doing very well.

Here are a couple of pictures of her in her new home. She psyched me out because each time I thought she was going to sit nicely and look at the camera, she moved before I got the shot.

Last night smelling my feet:

We're ready for puppy Sarah

I think we're ready. We've got the crate, the bed, a number of chew toys, a collar - purple of course, Eukanuba large breed puppy food, and dog treats. And of course, we've got lots of love to shower on the newest member of our family. Am I missing anything?

My husband is on his way home now and should arrive around 5:30 pm or so. As soon as we're done eating dinner, chicken with artichokes and a side of red skinned potatoes, we'll drop off Littlest One at the babysitter's house and head out to meet Sarah.

I'm so excited. We're going to be puppy parents again!

Works for me: Listerine Smart Rinse

Worksformewednesdayimage This past Easter, I put together Easter baskets for Little Man and Little Miss Throwsafit. Littlest One was too young to have any idea what was going on.  In addition to a little bit of candy, like Reese's Peanut Butter Eggs (I just LOVE them), jelly beans, Hershey Kisses, etc, I stuffed their baskets with things that wouldn't rot their teeth out of their heads. I got themProductslsr_2 fun toothbrushes, fun toothpaste, toys, games, etc. Little Man got a Spiderman toothbrush and Spiderman toothpaste. Little Miss Throwsafit got a Disney princess toothbrush and trainer toothpaste.  They were more excited about that stuff than they were about the candy. (I know. I have weird kids.) I also put a bottle of Listerine Smart Rinse in Little  Man's basket.  He didn't have any interest in it at first, so it sat on the corner of the sink for several months.  Last week, though, I opened it up and used it myself. I made funny swishy noises that he thought were silly. Naturally he had to try it.  Since then, the past couple of weeks or so, he's been diligent in using it. He loves how it tastes.  I like it because it's a bit of extra help as he learns how to brush his teeth thoroughly.

So, Listerine Smart Rinse works for me.

We're down to one of these two

***Bumped and updated***

Update II:

We're getting Purple Girl!  Tomorrow night, we're going to bring home this little cutie, who is now known as Sarah:

300pxceraAfter a very serious discussion over dinner last night, we decided to name our new dog Sarah, which was the name my five year old son has been lobbying for.  He wanted that one because it's the name of the girl triceratops (spelled Cera) in The Land Before Time movie and cartoon series.

I haven't heard from Julie yet, so I'm guessing that we won't know which puppy we're getting until we go to her house tomorrow night to pick her up.  Anticipation....

As I've mentioned before, we're getting a Great Dane puppy. We told our breeder, Julie at DiolaDanes, that we don't want her ears cropped, and she's fine with that.  That means we can get our puppy later this week! Anyway, we're getting one of these two, we'll know later on today:

Purple girl, who's a fawn:

Orange girl, who's a brindle:

Aren't they adorable? I'm so excited!

Almost messed up again

Frustratedmom_2 As I was pulling out of the driveway to take Little Man to preschool, I realized I forgot to get him a t-shirt to decorate, the main activity they are going to do today.  When I got LM to school, I saw that another mom had stopped off at the dollar store on the way to school to pick up her son Bugle Boy t-shirts.  Well, the 4-6 size she bought was too short and too wide. So I ran to the dollar store (You can do that in a small town. Everything is really close together. Yay!) and picked up a three pack of the 8-10 size, which was the perfect size. So my son got a shirt as well as the other boy. I'm looking forward to seeing how my son decorated his.

Prince Caspian opens Friday!

Our church rented the entire theater in Gaylord, so I'm planning on going to see it then. I want to take my five year old son with me. I hope he can last the whole movie. We've been watching The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe the past few days in preparation. Can you believe I have not seen the movie all the way through until today?
