Happy Veterans Day to All our Veterans
Members of my family have fought in wars going all the way back to the Revolutionary War, so I have a special respect and appreciation for veterans.
Yesterday, on the Marines' 231st birthday, President Bush announced that Marine Cpl. Jason Dunham will be awarded posthumously the Medal of Honor, the highest military decoration in the nation.
Please help support veterans and donate to Soldiers' Angels Project Valour IT:
Update: Stop the ACLU also has a Project Valour IT donation button for the Air Force.
Update II: Fellow Wizbanger Jay Tea has a great post at Wizbang reiterating who Americans need to thank for their freedoms:
It Is The Soldier
It is the Soldier, not the minister
Who has given us freedom of religion. It is the Soldier, not the reporter
Who has given us freedom of the press. It is the Soldier, not the poet
Who has given us freedom of speech. It is the Soldier, not the campus organizer
Who has given us freedom to protest. It is the Soldier, not the lawyer
Who has given us the right to a fair trial. It is the Soldier, not the politician
Who has given us the right to vote.It is the Soldier who salutes the flag,
Who serves beneath the flag,
And whose coffin is draped by the flag,
Who allows the protester to burn the flag.
Update III: Check out Michelle Malkin's wonderful Veterans Day post.
Update IV: Stop the ACLU has a remembrance as well
