Dinosaurs everywhere

My husband bought the three movie pack of Jurassic Park the other day because he thought my five year old, who's a dinosaur freak, would like it. I don't know about you, but Jurassic Park really scared me, and I'm concerned that my son won't be ready for it. I really don't want him waking up in the middle of the night terrified that a velociraptor is going to tear him apart.

Well, last night Steve put the movie in for Little Man so he could just watch the non-scary beginning.

That was enough. Little Man was hooked immediately.  He woke up early this morning and when I got up, the first thing he did was walk over to the Jurassic Park movie case and ask, "Can I watch this?"

So that's what he's doing right now, watching Jurassic Park.  When something I think is scary happens, I ask him if he thought it was scary, too, and he always says no. He seems more excited than anything. Nonetheless, when a really scary part happens, I skip the scene. I don't want my kids growing up desensitized to dinosaur violence, or all violence for that matter.

Little Man is going to stay home from church because his sinuses are acting up (the severe temperature change is wreaking havoc on him), so we'll see how things go today.

Something new is happening

I'm creating a new blog about my life Up North that I'm going to introduce soon. We moved from Toledo, Ohio, to Northern Michigan in January in 2007 after we purchased a canoe livery and fly shop.  My husband is still an attorney in Toledo, but only on a part time basis. He also opened a law practice in our little town.  Life Up North is very different from life in the city. It's much slower and a lot less hectic. Sometimes - ha! With three little kids, life can be quite hectic no matter where you live.

Once I introduce my new blog, I will merge my posts from this blog into it. I'm also going to try to transfer the feed from this blog to the new one, that way those of you who subscribe to my blog, and I thank you very much for that, will automatically be switched over. I'm hoping it will be seamless. I'm hoping.

Anyway, I'm still working on the design, but I hope to get it done shortly. At least until I decide to change it :) I'm a girl who likes change and new things.

We're adding to our family

No, I'm not pregnant. We're getting a puppy.  We've had one dog since our beloved Kelsey, our Irish Setter, died. Here's a picture of her from several years ago. Jul3112_2

I still miss her. Little Man once in a while asks if she's going to come back. It breaks my heart when I have to tell him no. But Sammy, our Golden Retriever, is still with us. Jul3103

Sammy is twelve this year and healthy. I wanted to get another dog while she is still in good shape and can help with training a new dog. We also know Sammy isn't getting any younger, so we would like to have a new dog in place when Sammy dies.  So, at the end of May, we're going to have a new puppy - a Great Dane. I love big dogs. I especially love Great Danes.  They are so good with kids. They  are kind, patient, and very family oriented. And, yes, they are big. I know that. We found a breeder we really like about an hour from here. All of her Danes are certified therapy dogs. Both parents are therapy dogs, which I especially like for Little Miss Throwsafit. And both parents are Champion Great Dane show dogs.  I am so looking forward to getting our newest family member home.

Then and now

I was cleaning up and deleting some of the unneeded digital pictures on my laptop.  There was, and still is, so much junk on my hard drive it's going to take some time to go through it all. Anyway, as I was looking through the images, I saw some of Little Man when he was just a few months old.

Here's Little Man, who's now five years old, at five months:

Littleman

I remember taking Little Man's picture like it was yesterday. Sheesh, how time flies. I don't want to close my eyes. Right now he's a rambunctious, sweet five year old. I'm afraid that in the next moment, he'll be graduating from college.

Now, here's Littlest One today, who just turned five months on Wednesday:

That ExerSaucer has been through all three kids.  Here's Little Man playing in the same ExerSaucer five years ago.

Here's Little Miss Throwsafit when she was five months old playing in the ExerSaucer. This was about two and a half years ago:

For some reason I took LMT's picture with the cell phone I had at the time instead of a traditional digital camera, which is why the image is so grainy. But her cuteness shines through, nonetheless.

Tupperware!

I went to a Tupperware party last night and had a great time. This was the first time I had been invited to something like that since we moved to Northern Michigan last year. Boy, was I thrilled to get out of the house and go to a social function by myself. When we lived in Toledo, I was really involved in my local MOPS group, I participated in Bunco once a month, and I belonged to a weekly women's small group at our church.  I loved getting out on my own because it helped in relieving so much pent up stress.  Last night's party was momentous for me.

And I ordered some Tupperware. This is what I got:

Tupperwarekids

Doesn't that look like fun? I can't wait to try out the jello/brownie molds. We always have Crystal Light lemonade, raspberry lemonade, and other flavors at our house, so I am looking forward to making them into frozen pops for my two oldest to enjoy. The ice cream sandwich maker sounds scrumptious. And I always need on the go storage containers and pitchers. And this set was 50% off! Woo hoo!

I loved these, too, because I want homes for my half onion and tomato that get tossed my refrigerator.

Forgetmenot

Right now I just put any left over tomato or onion in zip lock bags, but I like these better because they will keep the food longer. And I'll see them easier so they will get used much faster.

A couple of other women at the party signed up to have their own parties. They don't know me from Adam, but I hope they invite me because there's more I want to order. Besides, I like to support other people's parties.

Mommy's little helper

Little Miss Throwsafit loves to help me with Littlest One, and I'm happy to oblige her. She's particularly good at feeding LO his bottle.  I snapped this picture just a few moments ago.

Welcome to the New AT&T. Ugh.

Update: I got my unlock code and instructions today and I'm back in business. I have a cell phone again. Whew.

Until about an hour ago, I was a Cellular One customer. And a happy one at that. But I switched my BlackBerry Pearl over to AT&T because, one, AT&T purchased Cell One, and, two, my husband needed a new cell phone as well, and if he was getting an AT&T phone, there was no point in my staying with Cell One. He had been with Sprint, and where we live, Sprint doesn't have any coverage at all.  And if we're both with AT&T then we can call each other for free, not to mention we can be on a family calling plan and save money.

Sounds simple, right? Wrong. My husband's phone was not an issue. It was very simple to set up. My BlackBerry, however, was an entirely different matter.  The very nice ladies down at the local "Authorized AT&T Dealer" told me that once my Cell One sim card stopped working, that meant my service was switched to AT&T and that I should put in my new AT&T sim card.  Well, tonight around 10:00 pm, my Cell One sim card stopped working, so I popped in my new card, and, drum roll, I got an error message.  "Invalid Sim Card" is all my phone said.

I got on the phone with my friendly AT&T Customer Care representative. And he really was very friendly, too, and had a great Irish accent. After working with Mr. AT&T guy for about an hour, he determined that my BlackBerry was still locked and that I would need to get the unlock code for the new sim card to work.

Mr. AT&T guy then transferred me to Nathan at Cell One, who was nice but not quite as friendly as Mr. AT&T guy.  I got excited when Nathan told me that this was a very simple thing to fix. Alright. Now we were getting somewhere. Naturally, I thought that I would be back in business within a matter of minutes.

Wrong again. Nathan told me that in one to three days, I'll get an email from Cell One giving me the unlock code and all the instructions on how to unlock my BlackBerry.

One to three days? I won't have access to my BlackBerry for one to three days?!  Deep breaths. I need to take deep breaths. What will I do without my BlackBerry?

Lord, please let the unlock code get her quickly.  Amen.
